“There are real tangible rewards and career progression opportunities. I have thrived in my role.”

Dove White, Managing Consultant of our dedicated Mandarin-speaking Solar & Storage team tells us about the varied career opportunities available at Taylor Hopkinson. Read on to find out more about Dove's journey and our current vacancies.

Following the success of our Onshore Renewables team in the European, LATAM and US solar markets in the last 10 years, we took the decision to enter the Asian solar market.

In 2018 we created a sub-team within Onshore Renewables led by Chinese native Dove White, to focus on sourcing and hiring talent for Chinese solar clients in overseas markets. This move has grown from strength to strength, and Dove is now one of the most successful female leaders in our business.

In her career at Taylor Hopkinson so far, Dove has been promoted from Associate Consultant to Consultant to Senior Consultant to Managing Consultant with a team of direct reports – one of the fastest progression examples we’ve ever seen.

Demonstrating real focus and an impressive work ethic, Dove achieved all of her annual KPIs within the first six months of 2020, despite the global pandemic – which served its own challenges early in the year! Following a trip to celebrate Chinese New Year with family, she was quarantined in lockdown in China, and then on her return to Glasgow she went into quarantine for a further two weeks, only to then go into our own Scottish lockdown two weeks later.

Six months on, Dove was successfully leading a specialist Mandarin-speaking team that consistently surpasses annual targets and is developing trusted relationships with a growing volume of overseas clients.

Jamie Taylor, Managing Director, Onshore Renewables, says:

“It’s testament to the hard work and drive of Dove, her team, and the wider Onshore Renewables team, that we are heading for our best year to date, especially against such a challenging backdrop.

At Taylor Hopkinson you’re encouraged to be entrepreneurial and build your business within the business. Over 90% of our Heads of Department have been promoted internally because we look for people who can make a significant and long-term contribution to the business, and we offer real opportunities for career development and progression.”

When asked if she would recommend Taylor Hopkinson to other Consultants looking for a new challenge, Dove said:

“Yes, I have enjoyed every minute of my time at Taylor Hopkinson. There are real tangible rewards and career progression opportunities and I have thrived in my role, having the autonomy to build my own sub-team within the extremely exciting global Onshore Renewables market.

My dedicated Mandarin-speaking team continues to grow to support sector growth, and the wider team has expanded 50% since 2019, demonstrating true resilience in uncertain times.

I have no doubt that this team will continue to thrive and we are looking forward to supporting our clients in finding the best talent to grow their businesses across the solar and storage industry.”
