Jan De Nul has completed installation of all 20 foundations for the Formosa 1 Phase 2 offshore wind farm in the Formosa Strait.

Jan De Nul has completed installation of all 20 foundations for the Formosa 1 Phase 2 offshore wind farm in the Formosa Strait. Jan De Nul is also supplying scour protection and inter-array cables, both of which are already underway.


Monopiles shipped from Germany to Taiwan in April 2019

Taiwan’s offshore wind industry is progressing quickly. Pilot project, Formosa Phase 1 (3 x 4MW turbines) was completed in 2017. Phase 2 will add 20 Siemens Gamesa 6MW turbines, adding 120MW to create Taiwan’s first commercial-scale wind farm, by 2020.

Formosa 1, located 3km from the Mialoi coast,  is just the beginning. Formosa 2 and 3 are being developed and 4COffshore currently lists a total of 69 offshore wind projects at various stages of consent and development along Taiwan’s west coast.
