Overview:
This role focuses on managing the procurement of electrical equipment and systems essential for the operation of industrial energy facilities. The scope includes items such as high-voltage substations, low-voltage power distribution, control cabinets, inverters, electrical wiring, and turnkey design-supply-installation packages.
Operating in a global, multi-project environment, the Category Manager will be involved in both bidding and execution phases across several projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies for assigned electrical categories.
- Lead supplier consultations, negotiate agreements, and secure contracts for strategic purchases.
- Collaborate with technical teams and suppliers to identify cost, quality, and schedule optimisation opportunities.
- Define and execute sourcing actions to maintain and adapt the supplier panel based on project needs and market trends.
- Support tendering activities, including industrial planning, consultations, and cost estimation.
- Manage pre-contracting activities with strategic partners during the offer phase.
- Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers through regular business reviews and steering committees.
- Oversee contract management during project execution.
Profile & Skills:
- Degree in Engineering (electrical, process, or general) or Business with a specialisation in Purchasing (Master’s level).
- 5-10 years of experience in a structured procurement environment, handling international purchases of complex technical equipment and turnkey packages.
- Familiarity with electrical equipment (e.g., HV substations, LV distribution, control cabinets, drives) is a plus.
- Fluency in English is essential.
