Overview:
This role focuses on managing procurement for process equipment that converts energy from waste into electricity and heat. The scope includes items such as turbo-alternator units, air condensers, heat exchangers, water-steam piping assemblies, heating networks, and turnkey design-supply-installation packages.
Working within an international, multi-site and multi-project environment, the Category Manager will contribute to both tendering and delivery phases across several projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies for assigned categories.
- Lead supplier consultations, negotiate agreements, and secure contracts for strategic purchases.
- Collaborate with technical teams and suppliers to identify cost, quality, and schedule optimisation opportunities.
- Define and execute sourcing actions to maintain and adapt the supplier panel based on project needs and market trends.
- Support tendering activities, including industrial planning, consultations, and cost estimation.
- Manage pre-contracting activities with strategic partners during the offer phase.
- Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers through regular business reviews and steering committees.
- Oversee contract management during project execution.
Travel: Occasional visits to suppliers and project sites within Europe.
Language: Professional-level English is required.
Profile & Skills:
- Degree in Engineering (mechanical, thermal, process or general) or Business with a specialisation in Purchasing (Master’s level).
- 5-10 years of experience in a structured procurement environment, handling international purchases of complex technical equipment and turnkey packages.
- Familiarity with equipment such as turbo-alternator units, air condensers, heat exchangers, water-steam piping assemblies, and heating networks is a plus.
