Commercial & Origination Manager – Energy Storage | Tokyo
An dynamic fast-growing international renewable energy company is looking for a Commercial & Origination Manager to lead the charge in expanding their energy storage portfolio in Japan. Based in Tokyo, this permanent role offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of the energy transition, with a focus on battery energy storage systems (BESS).
Key Responsibilities:
- Build the strategy for the marketing, commercialization portfolio, new business models, key differentiations and executions in Japan
- Lead BESS based negotiation and management of commercial revenue offtakes and swap/derivative contracts as well as government and network service contracts
- Originate and build relationships with new offtakers and commercial partners.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams-investment, development, construction, operations, and trading-both in Japan and globally.
- Contribute to risk framework development and support annual business planning.
- Prepare documentation and presentations for senior stakeholders.
- Travel as needed for partner meetings and collaboration with global colleagues.
Skills Requisite:
- Native Japanese and preferably business level English (TOEIC score: 700)
- Proven understanding of battery energy storage (BESS) commercialisation and revenue models.
- Strong background in marketing, origination, negotiation, and contracting for energy assets (PPAs, ideally BESS).
- In-depth knowledge of the Japanese renewable energy market and policy environment.
- Commercial acumen with the ability to craft actionable business strategies from complex market data
