Director of Origination - Offshore Wind

Vårgrønn is an agile, Norway-based offshore wind company powering the energy transition through development, construction, operation, and ownership of offshore wind assets. Vårgrønn is a joint venture between the energy company Plenitude (Eni) and the Norwegian energy entrepreneur and investor HitecVision.

Vårgrønn is powered by a team with decades of collective offshore experience. Vårgrønn’s current pipeline of projects and prospective projects spans England, Scotland, Ireland and Norway in addition to early-stage initiatives in the Baltics. Vårgrønn holds a 20% share in Dogger Bank, the world’s largest offshore windfarm under construction.

Vårgrønn targets at least 5 GW of offshore wind in operation or sanctioned by 2030 across Northern Europe, and aims to be a frontrunner on environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance within the offshore wind industry. The company has offices in Stavanger, Oslo and London.

Responsibilities include
In this external-facing role you will collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders. The position reports to SVP Business Development.

Some key responsibilities

  • Identify key markets and opportunities.
  • Initiate and manage joint ventures, including identifying potential partners, negotiating commercial terms, and overseeing the execution of partnership agreements.
  • Manage transaction processes, source external consultants and lawyers, and lead due diligence and evaluation activities.
  • Collaborate closely with the investment team to advise on the economic viability of various renewable energy transactions.
  • Oversee monitoring of the regulatory context in target markets, collaborating closely with the market analysis team.
  • Oversee the development of and present Business Cases for investment approval.
  • Provide strategic input for business planning and overall strategy development.

Experience and qualifications:
To succeed in the role, candidates should hold a BSc or MSc degree in a relevant field with at least 10 years relevant experience. A solid understanding and experience in renewable energy, preferably in offshore wind, as well as project finance and M&A transactions, are essential.

The ideal candidate has solid experience and a proven track record in managing and executing projects.

We also see that you have outstanding interpersonal skills to deal with internal and external parties, and excellent communication skills in English, written and spoken.
