Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Division Manager to join our client’s renewable and grid solutions team in Japan.
This role focuses on strategic account development, solution-based selling, and market growth within the renewable and grid infrastructure sector. You will work closely with internal sales, engineering, and project teams to develop customer strategies, lead complex proposals, and drive long-term business growth.
Frequent travel within Japan (and occasional international travel) is required.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain long-term, strategic relationships with key customer accounts in the renewable energy and grid infrastructure sector.
* Work alongside account managers to lead proposals, leveraging strong segment knowledge and application expertise.
* Build and execute renewable and transmission market development plans aligned with customer strategies and long-term energy objectives.
* Develop a deep understanding of customer organisations, decision-making processes, and stakeholder dynamics.
* Anticipate customer requirements and proactively propose innovative solutions, including emerging grid and transmission concepts.
* Identify, qualify, and develop new sales opportunities in collaboration with cross-functional and cross-business teams.
* Lead capture teams on priority opportunities and “must-win” projects.
* Manage pipeline activities, forecasting, and long-term demand planning.
* Support market insight and market outlook processes through bottom-up customer and market intelligence.
* Ensure consistent application of internal sales processes, tools, and governance frameworks.
* Promote and uphold a strong culture of safety, integrity, and accountability across all activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related technical discipline.
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in sales, marketing, project management, product management, or engineering within the energy or infrastructure sector.
* Strong knowledge of the renewable energy market with experience working directly with renewable energy customers.
* Commercial mindset with sufficient technical understanding to build credibility when proposing complex energy and grid solutions.
* Proven ability to build, grow, and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and target accounts.
* Experience in value-based and strategic selling, including leading senior-level customer engagements and negotiations.
* Strong teamwork and leadership capabilities, with the ability to coordinate across multiple internal product and business lines.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as required. - Japanese fluency (spoken and written) is required to engage effectively with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders in Japan.
Desirable Experience
- Experience in sales within the offshore wind sector, particularly involving large-scale renewable energy projects.
* Exposure to grid connection, transmission, or power system integration is a strong advantage.
Location
- Tokyo, Japan (with frequent domestic travel)
