Electrical Engineering Manager

We are working with a global leader in renewable energy who are currently recruiting for a Electrical Engineering Manager to provide engineering support for their Japan onshore wind and renewable energy projects.

Background and Overview: This is a hiring increase to strengthen the structure and development capabilities due to the construction of multiple onshore wind power plants. As an electrical engineer in the onshore wind engineering department, you will be involved in all technical aspects (electrical field) related to the construction of onshore wind power plants.

Responsibilities:

  • Support for new onshore project development (early stage):
    • Prepare connection study application forms.
    • Create single-line diagrams (develop single-line diagrams of standard wind power plants using CAD, reflecting site-specific characteristics).
    • Select routes for private transmission lines and collection lines (full-scale consideration will be done in the mid-development stage with the addition of specialist contractors).
    • Create technical documents and hold discussions with power companies regarding grid connections.
    • Research, evaluate, and implement new technologies and business opportunities.
    • Respond to onshore wind tenders and explore cost reduction methods.
  • Support for new onshore project development (mid to late stage):
    • Select routes for private transmission lines and collection lines (done with specialist contractors through outsourcing).
    • Prepare RFPs and technical specifications for BOP (Balance of Plant) selection and bidding.
    • Conduct technical evaluations of BOP proposals (e.g., reviewing construction plans and processes), and engage in price negotiations.

Qualifications, Skills, and Degrees Required:

  • Mandatory Requirements:
    • Graduate from a university, graduate school, junior college, technical school, or higher-level institution.
    • Experience in electrical equipment design or construction, or a degree in an electrical field.
    • PC skills (proficient in office software, CAD, etc.).
    • Native-level Japanese, and intermediate-level English (you will frequently work with overseas turbine manufacturers and technical consultants, so communication skills are necessary).
    • Ability to read and understand technical documents in English.
    • A valid driver’s license with the ability to drive.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Knowledge or experience related to power generation, transmission, and grid operation.
    • Experience working with electric utilities, power receiving equipment manufacturers, or engineering companies.
    • Experience working at a wind turbine manufacturer.
    • Knowledge or experience in the design and construction of extra-high-voltage solar or wind power plants.
    • Qualification as an Electrical Chief Engineer.
    • Qualification in electrical construction management.
    • Licensed as an electrical worker.
