We are currently working with a developer looking for a Geotechnical Engineer – Offshore Wind that will play a key role in shaping the future of Australian offshore wind projects.
As a member of the foundation team, you will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting soil data to guide the development of wind farms. You will scope, procure, and oversee geophysical and geotechnical site investigations, build ground models, and provide expert advice on site characterization and layout strategies. This role offers the opportunity to apply your expertise in geophysical and seismic soil investigation techniques, while making a tangible impact on renewable energy infrastructure.
Resonsibilities:
- Conduct and review geological desktop studies.
- Develop, review, and maintain ground models throughout the lifecycle of offshore wind farms.
- Identify soil-related risks during the planning, design, and installation of wind turbine foundations, cables, and offshore high-voltage station foundations.
- Review and create Employer Requirements for non-destructive soil survey techniques, contributing to the continuous improvement of our internal knowledge base.
- Select and manage geoscience consultants and survey companies.
- Prepare scopes, specifications, and review tender documents for site investigations.
Experience:
- A Master’s degree in engineering, marine geology, applied geophysics, or a related discipline.
- Strong background in marine geophysics.
- 3+ years of experience in offshore wind and 5+ years of experience in geo-surveys.
- Proficiency with GIS software (QGIS).
- Affinity with geotechnical engineering and foundation design is a plus.
- Ability to work independently with a problem-solving mindset.
