Head of Development – Germany – C&I

  • Title: Development Manager – Head of Germany.
  • Reporting Line: Reports directly to the Chief Commercial Officer.
  • Location: Work from home.
  • Travel: Regularly to HQ in Belgium.

Key Responsibilities:

Our client is seeking an experienced Development Manager to enhance its market position by ensuring the technical and commercial feasibility of multi-technology renewable energy projects. The ultimate goal is to progress prospects and opportunities to a viable “Good to Develop” status.

  • Work within a highly skilled team in a motivating and collaborative environment, with support from internal engineering and financial departments.
  • Collaborate with other Development Managers and Key Account Managers to address a variety of client needs, coordinating all technical, commercial, and feasibility aspects.
  • Manage the project throughout the entire project lifecycle (from initiation to financial close).
  • Provide recommendations and roadmaps for proposed solutions during the commercial and negotiation phases, delivering high-quality technical proposals.
  • Oversee the follow-up and feasibility assessment of multi-technology renewable energy projects, including land zoning, biodiversity, site surveys, geotechnical tests, indicative scoping and costing, grid scoping and costing, and drone topography.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and legal requirements, including local zoning laws, environmental legislation, and energy regulations specific to renewable energy projects, with a strong focus on behind-the-meter solutions.
  • Manage permitting processes and conduct financial viability checks in collaboration with the finance team.
  • Foster and maintain strong, respectful relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Oversee the department’s knowledge management center.
  • Focus primarily on Flanders, with potential for expansion the Netherlands. Occasional business travel is required.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or Economics.
  • Solid experience working in the renewable energy market, particularly in solar PV, batteries, e-mobility, onshore wind, and heat solutions.
  • Excellent knowledge of local legislation concerning behind-the-meter assets.
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to manage a project and guide different teams throughout the entire project lifecycle.
  • Strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration with external stakeholders.
  • Excellent project management skills, with significant experience in budgeting and cost analysis.
  • Experience in conducting multi-technology feasibility assessments, including land zoning, biodiversity, site surveys, and geotechnical analysis.
  • Familiarity with working within the public sector, including handling permits, subsidies, and deliverables.
  • Proficient in communicating in multiple languages
