Role Overview
We are seeking a senior-level professional to join as Head of Channel Partnerships – Power & Retail Aggregation, based in Tokyo. This is a high-priority role that will focus on building and managing strategic relationships with trading houses, aggregators, and energy retailers to enable the delivery of renewable power to end-users.
The successful candidate will act as the bridge between the company’s renewable generation portfolio and the market, ensuring that energy is successfully contracted, aggregated, and retailed through trusted channel partners. This role is particularly suited to an experienced professional from the Japanese energy or trading sector, who understands the landscape of offtakers, retailers, and corporate energy buyers, and who is motivated to help shape new business models in the transition to renewables.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and lead channel strategies with trading houses, aggregators, and retailers to support renewable energy sales into the Japanese market.

Negotiate and manage long-term agreements with channel partners, ensuring seamless delivery of renewable power to end-users.

Build strong relationships with utilities, trading houses, and large energy buyers, positioning the company as a reliable partner in the energy transition.

Collaborate closely with internal PPA, commercial, and development teams to structure agreements that are both commercially sound and attractive to end-users.

Provide strategic insight into Japanese energy markets, identifying opportunities to expand partnerships and unlock new offtake routes.

Represent the company at industry events, forums, and client discussions, enhancing visibility and credibility in the Japanese energy market.

Support senior management with intelligence on market participants, target companies, and potential candidates for partnerships.
Candidate Requirements

Extensive experience in the Japanese energy or trading sector, ideally within a trading house, utility, or retailer.

Strong network and understanding of offtakers, aggregators, and retail energy channels in Japan.

Demonstrated track record of building and managing commercial partnerships, PPAs, or energy aggregation agreements.

Proven commercial acumen and negotiation skills, with the ability to balance partner and company interests.

Excellent communication skills in Japanese (native level) and English proficiency preferred.
