Lead Onshore Substation HV Commissioning Engineer required for a major Offshore Wind Farm Developer to be based in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Contractor Commissioning activities at Necton ONS sites.
  • Remote technical support to the team in Dubai and offshore the commissioning activities taking place.
  • Oversee and support Commissioning activities for the OSS for both the Yard works and offshore works.
  • The expectation is that the role based at the Necton Substation will focus 60-70% of their time on the HVDC ONS build and commissioning, interfacing with the site technical roles. With the remaining 30-40% understanding the progress of the OSS commissioning in Dubai.
  • Provide the overview of all commissioning activities for the HVDC system.
  • Work with the Client (Commissioning, Engineering and Quality) and Contractor Technical teams to respond to questions.
  • Attend SATs and manage ITPs from a technical perspective.
  • Provide training to new starters such as the O&M team.
  • Coordinate and complete the commissioning file.
  • Respond to technical questions relating to the readiness to commissioning.
  • Client witness and sign off of commissioning works.
  • Investigate and report on Faults during the commissioning phase.
  • Represent Commissioning team in onshore coordination and SIMOP meetings.
  • Support Commissioning Package Manager to ensure required onshore Commissioning procedures are available.
  • Responsible for ensuring accurate ‘As Built’ Drawings and Commissioning Records are kept by the Subcontractor.

Requirements

  • Relevant technical education, for example Electrical Engineering Degree/HNC or equivalent.
  • IOSH/NEBOSH Certification.
  • Proven Electrical Commissioning Engineer in a HV substation/Wind Farm Environment up to 400kV.
  • Knowledge of HVDC Transmission or Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTs).
  • Experience of UK Grid interface management.
  • Proven track record in a Client role.
  • Understanding of HV Safety Rules.
  • Self-starting with planning/coordination and problem-solving abilities.
  • Valid UK working rights.
