Principal Energy Developer – US

Principal Energy Developer

Locations: Seattle, WA or Houston, TX (full time in-office)
Markets: BPA/WECC (Pacific Northwest), ERCOT (Texas), Arizona/Nevada

What the Role Involves

  • Lead end-to-end development of utility-scale energy infrastructure projects across BPA/WECC, ERCOT, and the Desert Southwest.

  • Originate, structure, and drive projects through interconnection, permitting, and commercial negotiation to execution.

  • Engage directly with utilities, RTOs, and regional transmission operators to identify opportunities and advance grid-integrated solutions.

  • Develop and negotiate impact studies, tariffs, and off-take structures aligned with utility operational priorities.

  • Navigate regulatory and commercial complexity to remove barriers and accelerate delivery.

  • Represent the company to external partners and utilities with full ownership of project outcomes, from conception to execution.

  • Operate within a lean, builder-led culture that prioritises execution over hierarchy and shared success over titles.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Experience: 10-20+ years in energy project development, utility engagement, or transmission infrastructure.

  • Development capability: Proven track record originating and advancing projects through feasibility, interconnection, and execution phases.

  • Utility fluency: Deep understanding of utility business models, grid operations, RTO frameworks, and interconnection challenges.

  • Commercial acumen: Skilled in structuring PPAs, negotiating tariffs, and aligning technical delivery with commercial outcomes.

  • Execution mindset: Operates independently, with high accountability and the ability to build trust across technical, regulatory, and commercial interfaces.

  • Cultural fit: Prefers autonomy and tangible impact over visibility or bureaucracy. Thrives in small, fast-moving, low-profile teams.

What You Get

  • Full-time, in-office position in Seattle or Houston.

  • Competitive base salary with performance-linked bonus and equity incentives.

  • Opportunity to shape the next generation of grid and energy infrastructure across multiple U.S. markets.

  • Direct access to executive leadership and the ability to influence strategic utility partnerships.

Good to Know

  • This is not a programme management role. It is a hands-on development position requiring both origination and execution capability.

  • Expect meaningful travel to utility and project sites.

  • Success is measured by project advancement and stakeholder trust, not internal reporting lines.
