Principal Energy Program Manager

Opportunity for a Principal Energy Program Manager to innovative projects for a clean energy & data center infrastructure developer. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity based either in Houston, TX or Seattle, WA.

Role

We are seeking an experienced energy professional to focus on engagement and contracting with electric utilities. The candidate will be responsible for working with utilities across the US and directly with key partners to execute innovative strategies that advance our business objectives.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of how electric utilities operate, the regulatory compact that defines utility operations, and commercial negotiation experience.

Key Job Responsibilities:

In collaboration with the team, you will be responsible for developing and executing the energy strategy in 2-3 markets. Success will depend on your ability to:

  • Engage with utilities to build trust and learn about system operations and constraints
  • Implement novel commercial structures and utility-scale solutions to improve project timelines, increase scale, and reduce carbon emissions
  • Negotiate with commercial counterparties to secure a grid connection, transmission capacity, and accredited generation capacity
  • Evaluate and influence energy policies to identify opportunities where an innovative commercial structure can be utilized to secure generation capacity
  • Collaborate across functions and take ownership of shared outcomes

Requirements

  • Significant professional work experience in the energy industry
  • A demonstrated ability to create win-win outcomes
  • Superior communication skills with an ability to prepare clear and professional materials, including reports and presentations
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate commercial agreements and collaborate with internal and external counsel
  • An ability to thrive in an environment that requires constant experimentation
  • Strong project management skills with an ability to work independently
  • Strategic and creative mindset with a consistent ability to think outside the box
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Willingness to travel 25% of the time for in-person meetings
