About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer – International Market Grid-Forming Technical Solutions to lead the technical interface between global markets and our advanced power electronics and renewable energy solutions. You will be the technical bridge between internal engineering teams, international customers, system operators, and certification bodies to ensure the successful delivery and compliance of grid-forming inverter technologies for energy storage and wind turbine systems across diverse international markets.
This is a strategic and technically rich role offering high impact across product innovation, compliance strategy, and global market integration.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer and Grid Operator Engagement: Lead communication and technical solutioning with international customers, grid operators, and third-party stakeholders to deliver grid-forming inverter systems (wind/storage), including simulation models, specifications, and delivery requirements.
- Market Requirements & Gap Analysis: Identify and analyse grid-forming functional requirements and grid connection codes across key global markets. Perform compliance gap analysis and communicate technical needs to internal product and R&D teams to drive system upgrades.
- Technology Road mapping: Maintain a consolidated view of international grid-forming and grid connection requirements. Collaborate with product managers to define a forward-looking road map and translate this into actionable implementation plans for inverter-based technologies.
- Testing & Certification: Act as a technical liaison with certification bodies and compliance testing organisations globally. Work closely with testing teams to coordinate and complete type testing, grid compliance validation, and support successful certifications for grid-forming functions.
Key Requirements
- Degree (BSc/MSc/PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or Renewable Energy Engineering.
- 8+ years of experience in grid integration, grid compliance, or power electronics solutions, ideally in wind turbine or energy storage OEMs.
- Solid knowledge of international grid codes (e.g., ENTSO-E, WECC, AEMO, National Grid, ERCOT) and experience delivering compliant solutions across various jurisdictions.
- Proven experience working with grid-forming inverter technology, dynamic simulation models (e.g., PSCAD, PSS®E, DIgSILENT), and grid interconnection strategy.
- Excellent stakeholder communication and cross-cultural collaboration skills.
- Experience interfacing with certification bodies, such as DNV, UL, TÜV, or similar, is highly desirable.
