As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for supporting the development of solar, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and wind projects in Canada and the United States.
Role:
- Supporting project development activities in North America; executing local development activities, reporting progress to, and supporting the Project Development Sr. Manager/Director
- Supporting the Project Development team in all non-technical aspects of project development for utility-scale solar/wind/BESS projects including permitting, environmental studies, interconnection, regulatory, and stakeholder management from early stage development or acquisition to COD
- Develop and maintain insights on the local renewable energy markets (regulations, trends, opportunity identification)
- Supporting the due diligence of development related activities related to the acquisition and/or development of greenfield, brownfield (partially developed), ready-to-build, and operating utility-scale solar/BESS/wind/other projects in Canada and US (supporting similar processes in Mexico as needed).
- Co-ordinating development activities alongside the Engineering/Technical team to ensure a cohesive approach to project development
- Supporting project financings by answering relevant diligence questions and providing required documentation
- Interacting and coordinating with the various counterparties participating in the project’s life-cycle, including developers, project stakeholders, external advisors (legal, technical, and market consultants), among others.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Business, Finance or other related field.
- Knowledge of Canadian and/or US renewable energy markets with emphasis on country specific project development requirements/regulations and planning processes.
- Track record of contributing to development utility scale “greenfield” and “brownfield” renewable energy (preferably solar PV, but wind and BESS would also be considered) projects in Canada and/or US.
- Experience supporting project development activities for utility-scale solar/wind/BESS projects including permitting, environmental studies, interconnection, transmission, regulatory, and stakeholder management (engineering and design experience is a plus).
- Ability to identify, quantify, and mitigate risks, and communicate recommendations in order to empower team to realize opportunities.
- Proven ability to work in a multinational environment, supporting teams, and comfortable and experienced in coordinating with colleagues on a global level and different time zone.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Diligent, execution-focused, ability to “think outside the box”, proactive and able to take on deal responsibility, team-player, and results-oriented.
- Fluent in English. Working knowledge of Spanish and/or French is a plus.
