Project Development Analyst/Associate

Job Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Development Manager to lead the development of onshore renewable energy projects in Japan. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project development, financial modeling, and project finance, with a deep understanding of the Japanese market and regulatory landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end development of onshore renewable energy projects, from site identification and feasibility studies to permitting, stakeholder engagement, and financial close.
  • Conduct comprehensive financial modeling and analysis to assess project viability, including cash flow projections, sensitivity analysis, and risk assessment.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to optimize project design, procurement, and construction strategies, ensuring alignment with project objectives and financial targets.
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including landowners, government agencies, local communities, and financial institutions, to navigate regulatory requirements and secure necessary permits and approvals.
  • Lead negotiations and structuring of project finance arrangements, including debt and equity financing, to support project development and execution.
  • Monitor project progress and performance against key milestones and financial metrics, identifying and addressing risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, market dynamics, and regulatory changes, providing insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making and enhance project competitiveness.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven track record of successfully developing and financing renewable energy projects, preferably in the Japanese market.
  • Strong financial modeling skills and experience with project finance structures, including debt financing, tax equity, and/or power purchase agreements (PPAs).
  • Excellent understanding of project development processes, including site selection, permitting, grid interconnection, and construction management.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Fluent in Japanese and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
