Project Origination Manager/Snr Associate: Floating Solar

Seeking an experienced, creative and highly motivated Project Origination Manager/Senior Associate to join a pioneering developer of floating solar as part of fast-growing team of industry experts which is growing aggressively following major investment. This critical role will support the origination team dedicated to utility-scale floating solar. This position can be based from company offices in New York City, Portland Oregon, San Francisco or Houston.

Role

Project Origination Manager/Senior Associate will lead the identification, evaluation, and acquisition of new utility-scale floating solar development opportunities across the U.S. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in renewable energy development at utility-scale, ,and a proven track record of supporting the origination of projects from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and assess new utility-scale solar project opportunities through land acquisition, partnerships, or M&A.
  • Develop and manage relationships with landowners, utilities, energy offtakers, consultants, and local stakeholders.
  • Negotiate land agreements, PPAs, and early-stage development contracts.
  • Conduct high-level due diligence and financial assessments of project viability.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (development, finance, legal, engineering) to advance project prospects through the pipeline.
  • Monitor market trends, policy developments, and RFPs to capitalize on emerging opportunities.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and meetings to expand our network and visibility.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience in project origination, business development, or related roles within the renewable energy sector.
  • Proven success in originating and advancing utility-scale projects through early stages of the development process..
  • Strong knowledge of the U.S. energy markets, interconnection process, and PPA structures.
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset and ability to work independently.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for site visits, meetings, and conferences.
