Overview:
A leading international energy solutions provider is seeking a skilled Proposal Engineer to support the development of turnkey Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. This role involves technical and commercial proposal preparation, system sizing, cost estimation, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver competitive and technically sound solutions for utility-scale energy storage projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyse customer RFQs and public tenders to align technical solutions with project requirements.
- Design and size BESS configurations, preparing detailed cost estimates covering equipment, labour, and subcontracting.
- Develop comprehensive technical and commercial proposals for full-scope energy storage solutions.
- Coordinate with procurement and vendor teams to source competitive quotes and ensure material availability.
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations to clients, addressing system design, performance, and value proposition.
- Collaborate with regional sales teams to define and communicate the project’s value proposition.
- Interface with internal engineering, R&D, and procurement teams to assess technologies and select suppliers.
- Support legal and commercial teams in defining scope of supply, warranties, and contractual terms.
Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (required)
- MBA or equivalent business qualification (preferred)
Experience:
- 5+ years in proposal or sales engineering roles within utility-scale renewable energy or EPC environments.
- Strong background in power electronics, grid standards, and stakeholder engagement (utilities, IPPs, developers).
- Experience working with TSOs, DSOs, or public energy agencies is a plus.
- Proven ability to operate in multinational, cross-functional teams.
Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering tools.
- In-depth knowledge of grid-scale BESS systems, PCS, and energy management systems.
Other:
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
- Regular presence required at company offices and project sites involved in solar and storage projects.
