QAQC Welding Engineer

Welding Engineer required for a major Offshore Wind Farm Developer based in Belgium.

Responsibilities

  • Comprehensive reading/review employer requirements.
  • Writing welding procedures.
  • Organizing kick-off meetings.
  • Attending welding inspections.
  • Advising the commercial department regarding tender projects.
  • Advising the engineering department during design regarding quality, materials.
  • Advising production leaders and Project Managers regarding welding specific issues.
  • Develop and design welding procedures and specifications based on project requirements, materials, and industry standards.
  • Implement and oversee quality control measures to ensure the integrity and strength of welded joints. This may involve conducting inspections, testing procedures, and ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
  • Advise on the selection of appropriate materials for welding processes, considering factors such as material compatibility, strength requirements, and environmental conditions.
  • Establish and qualify welding procedures through testing and documentation to ensure they meet industry standards and project specifications.
  • Stay current with advancements in welding technology and materials and contribute to research and development efforts to improve welding processes and techniques.
  • Collaborate with other engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to integrate welding processes into overall project plans and ensure that welding requirements are met.
  • Ensure that welding operations comply with safety regulations and standards. Implement and monitor safety protocols to prevent accidents and protect personnel.
  • training and guidance to welding personnel to enhance their skills and ensure adherence to best practices and safety guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of welding procedures, inspections, and other relevant documentation. Prepare reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in welding engineering, materials science, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
  • Relevant work experience in welding engineering or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of welding processes, metallurgy, materials science, and relevant industry codes and standards is essential.
  • Strong communication skills are necessary to work effectively with team members, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyse and solve complex problems related to welding processes, materials, and quality issues.
  • Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools for designing and analysing welding processes.
  • Good organisation & coordination.
