Taylor Hopkinson is seeking a Senior Consulting Structural/Civil Engineer for one of the world’s longest-standing full-consulting engineering firms. A global leader in renewable energy. The focus is on evaluating and optimizing the technical, commercial, environmental, social responsibility, and financial aspects of these projects for a wide range of stakeholders.
Responsibilities:

Supports clients across utility-scale solar, wind, battery energy storage, thermal power, and other major infrastructure projects, focusing on optimising technical, commercial, environmental, social, and financial aspects.

Performs structural engineering reviews and analyses to evaluate power projects and provide clear, actionable guidance for developers, owners, and financiers in the U.S. and internationally.

Collaborates with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver:

Structural engineering reviews

Structural design specifications
-
Development support for utility-scale solar, wind, storage, thermal, and other power projects

Independent evaluations for project financing

Technical reports for owners, developers, agencies, committees, and financiers

Qualifications:
- This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering with a structural speciality. A Master’s degree in civil/structural engineering or business (e.g., MBA) discipline is a plus.
- 10+ years of detailed structural design, including mass concrete, steel, piles, deep foundations, lattice structures, etc.,
- 7+ years of experience working in detailed structural design specific to power generation or distribution (thermal, renewable, substations, etc.)
- Experience in writing and providing support documentation for Structural Engineering specifications, calculations, and white-papers or feasibility studies.
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical evaluation report writing
Valued but not required skills and experience:
- Professional Engineering (PE) or Structural Engineering (SE) license
- Finite element modeling experience – specifically SAP2000, LPILE, STAAD, etc.
- Experience with design of foundations in unique subsurface conditions (i.e. karst, high groundwater, potential for liquefaction)
- Multi-discipline teamwork (i.e. design projects, co-ops)
- Data analysis and visualisation
- Project finance or business acumen
- Conceptual project design
- Construction project management and/or scheduling software knowledge
- Solid interpersonal skills and ability to work with and guide others
- Project planning, leadership, and organizational skills
