Senior Electrical Engineer

Taylor Hopkinson is in search of a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer with renewable energy developer, specializing in wind and solar projects across the U.S., with over 1 GW of completed or NTP-ready projects and 4 GW in active development. The company was acquired by one of the world’s largest asset manager to accelerate project development by combining local expertise with global capital support.

This crole witll be the principal for specifications, design, and construction of the electrical infrastructure for wind, solar, battery and transmission facilities, along with supporting the associated structures within the NRS portfolio. The role requires technical competency on electrical infrastructure as well as project management skills. To succeed in this position, the candidate will need to demonstrate an aptitude for efficiency, problemsolving, and resourcefulness, with a deep commitment to the bottom line without compromising quality.

Responsibilities

  • Manage third-party and Owner’s Engineering services for projects
  • Oversee project actions related to tenders, contracts, and general management, including technical negotiations and due diligence
  • Supervise project development activities, including writing specifications and scoping consultancy and engineering work
  • Manage consultants and contractors for project infrastructure delivery
  • Provide technical support for contract negotiations, amendments, and new agreements
  • Supervise electrical design, reviewing contractor proposals and monitoring work quality
  • Conduct site visits/inspections and implement lessons learned from past projects
  • Support interconnection studies and contribute to interconnection applications

Technical Responsibilities

  • Manage engineering studies including:
    • Short circuit, arc flash, and harmonics studies
    • Relay coordination, insulation coordination, and load flow/power flow studies
    • Electrical loss calculations and grounding studies for substations, PV, BESS, and WTG systems
  • Prepare detailed specifications for collection systems, substations, and transmission lines, as well as vendor submittals and drawing packages

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET accredited)
  • Minimum of 4 years in a relevant renewable energy role
  • Proficiency in construction planning, estimation, risk management, and OSHA requirements
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office and CAD software for preliminary design work
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Willingness to travel at least 20%
