Taylor Hopkinson is supporting the search for a Senior Environmental Engineering Manager on behalf of a major European utility-scale renewable energy company. The organisation is active across multiple markets and specialises in the development, construction, and operation of large-scale onshore wind and solar PV projects.
Responsibilities:

Analyse and interpret Italian environmental regulations and constraints, ensuring regulatory compliance across all phases of project development, construction, and operation.

Lead the preparation, coordination, and quality control of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), ensuring alignment with national and European legislation.

Oversee the work of external environmental consultants, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery of environmental reports, studies, and risk assessments.

Coordinate communications with regulatory authorities, environmental organisations, and other key stakeholders to maintain open, transparent, and constructive relationships.

Provide technical expertise during the permitting process and public consultations.

Contribute to strategic planning by identifying environmental risks and mitigation strategies early in project development.

Support internal teams (development, permitting, construction, and operations) by advising on environmental best practices and legal obligations.

Monitor and manage environmental compliance during project execution and operation, including supervision of environmental monitoring plans and reporting obligations.
Requirements:

Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or a related discipline.

Minimum 7 years of experience in environmental management for renewable energy projects, particularly in onshore wind and solar PV.

Demonstrated experience leading or supporting EIAs and managing regulatory processes in Italy.

Strong understanding of Italian environmental legislation and permitting requirements for energy infrastructure.

Experience working with and managing external consultants and third-party service providers.

Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate complex environmental issues clearly.

Prior experience managing or mentoring small environmental teams is highly desirable.

Exposure to European environmental regulations or projects in other EU countries is a plus.

Fluency in Italian and English is essential. Spanish is a plus.
