To power the business expansion of our clients, we have an opportunity for a credible and talented Senior Operations Manager (SOM) and become a member of the Management Team in Singapore.
Position Overview
The Senior Operations Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing the execution and optimization of multiple renewable energy projects across various regions. This position requires expertise in project planning, operational efficiency, and resource management to deliver projects on time and within budgets. The SOM will harmonize workflows, streamline subcontractor activities, and ensure cost-effective procurement to create economies of scale. As a member of the Management Team, the SOM will provide critical insights on financial performance, risk management, and operational improvements. This role demands a dynamic leader with a deep understanding of renewable energy operations and a proven ability to manage complex, multi-country portfolios.
Key Responsibilities
Master Project Planning and Oversight
Develop and manage a Master Gantt chart for projects across business verticals. Develop and/or use existing tools and methods to optimize cost, time, and quality while aligning engineering, procurement, and construction phases across countries. Consolidate purchasing needs for economies of scale, resolve scheduling conflicts, and address resource bottlenecks. Track milestones and provide progress updates to the Management Team.
Workflow & Process Optimization
Identify and address inefficiencies at project and SPV levels and implement improvements through harmonised procedures. Introduce automation tools to enhance monitoring and performance. Establish KPIs to track efficiency and synergies, and collaborate with department heads to incorporate best practices for productivity and teamwork.
HR Resource Allocation
Coordinate with departments to forecast and allocate personnel for project execution and SPV operations, adjusting staffing based on project phases. Monitor performance, address skill gaps, and optimize team assignments by working with and through heads of departments.
Subcontractor Harmonization
Establish performance benchmarks and enforce standards across regions and asset types. Monitor regional labour costs and maintain country-specific contractor charges. Standardize construction activities, develop a robust contractor database, and implement a safety program compliant with ISO, OSHA, and other certifications.
Cash Flow & Financial Planning
Create portfolio-level cash flow forecasts, accounting for schedules, material purchases, and labour costs. Monitor expenditures against budgets, adjust plans as necessary, and provide financial updates to the Management Team, highlighting risks. Develop contingency strategies to manage cost overruns effectively.
Risk Identification & Mitigation
Identify and monitor portfolio-level risks, such as resource shortages, supply chain and logistics issues and regulatory challenges, and develop comprehensive mitigation strategies and contingency plans. Ensure compliance with local laws and industry standards to minimize legal and operational risks.
Reporting
The Senior Operations Manager reports directly to the CEO and attends weekly Group Management Team Meetings.
Competences & Capabilities
- Master’s degree in engineering, industrial-business administration, or a related field, preferably combining engineering with business.
- Minimum 10 years in the renewable energy sector, with at least 5 years in a senior role, preferably in the Asia-Pacific region.
- Experience in managing construction and/or renewable energy projects in challenging environments.
- Strong in budget management, financial analysis, and strategic operations.
- PMP Certification, Six Sigma, and Operations Excellence/Safety Management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
