Senior Transmission Interconnection Manager
Senior Transmission Interconnection Manager working for a leading developer, owner, and operator of utility-scale energy storage and hybrid renewable projects across North America. This is a full-time permanent position and can be worked either remotely from any USA location, or from the company HQ in Austin, Texas.
Role
As a Senior Transmission Interconnection Manager you will oversee the interconnection of new power generation projects to the grid. This role involves managing the interconnection process, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, coordinating with utilities and transmission operators, and supporting project development teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering (power systems), project management, and knowledge of grid interconnection Tariffs.
Responsibilities:
- Create and manage interconnection applications from inception to COD;
- Track and deliver on project milestones and other associated requirements;
- Perform system modeling and transmission analysis for a growing portfolio of Energy Storage, Solar, Wind, and Hybrid projects;
- Replicate ISO and utility interconnection studies to identify potential impacts and costs of interconnecting generation to power systems;
- Act as a subject matter expert on interconnection queues, transmission plans, Tariff, and business practice changes;
- Provide Transmission & Interconnection due diligence support for ongoing M&A ;
- Collaborate with teammates supporting project development, market analysis, and market forecasting;
- Prepare summaries, reports, and other materials of technical results to technical and non-technical team members;
- Develop and streamline processes and automation to support data management, processing, and efficient workflows;
- Other duties as required or assigned.
Requirements
- 4 years minimum experience with interconnection Tariffs and queue project management;
- 4 years minimum experience with transmission planning and loadflow analysis;
- Bachelor’s in electrical engineering with additional consideration given to applicants with advanced degrees;
- Previous experience at an IPP, consultant, or similar desired;
- Proficient in one or more power system powerflow tools: TARA, PSS/E, PSLF;
- Experience in two or more organized electric markets (CAISO, NYISO, PJM, ERCOT)
- Working knowledge of NERC planning standards;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to think strategically;
- Possess strong communication skills;
- Highly organized with demonstrated ability to work under tight time requirements and deadlines.
