In this role you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the planning, procurement, and inventory management of materials to support production and operational efficiency. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure that materials are available when needed while minimizing costs and waste.
Responsibilities
· Material Planning: Develop and implement effective material planning strategies to meet production schedules and demand forecasts. Ensure accurate inventory levels to support operational needs.
· Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, conduct regular audits, and manage stock replenishment to minimize excess inventory and stockouts.
· Procurement Coordination: Collaborate with procurement teams to identify and select suppliers, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely delivery of materials.
· Data Analysis: Analyze material usage trends and production requirements to inform planning decisions. Utilize data analytics tools to enhance forecasting accuracy.
· Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process enhancements in material control and planning. Implement best practices to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
· Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of planners and material controllers, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
· Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with production, quality assurance, and logistics teams to ensure alignment and timely resolution of material-related issues.
· Compliance and Standards: Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory standards in all material handling and planning activities.
· Reporting and Documentation: Prepare regular reports on material availability, inventory status, and planning performance for senior management review.
Qualifications
- Bilingual in Mandarin/English is highly preferred.
- A bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, industrial engineering, logistics, or a related field. A master’s degree or relevant certifications (such as APICS certification) can be advantageous.
- A proven track record experience in materials management, inventory control, and production planning within a manufacturing or similar industry.
- Demonstrated experience in managing a team, overseeing procurement, inventory optimization, and supply chain processes.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP) to manage inventory levels, track materials, and plan production schedules.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret data, forecast demand, and make informed decisions regarding inventory levels and production schedules.
- Thorough understanding of supply chain management principles, including inventory control methodologies, demand forecasting, supplier management, and logistics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, negotiate with suppliers, and effectively manage relationships.
- Leadership qualities to guide and motivate a team, set clear objectives, and drive performance in achieving production and inventory targets.
- Proven ability to identify issues within material control and production planning, devise solutions, and make timely decisions to optimize processes and mitigate risks.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adapt to changing priorities, and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to inventory management, safety standards, and quality control within the industry.
