Taylor Hopkinson are engaged to help our industry-leading client build up their UK team and currently we're on the hunt to find a Technical Director with up to date knowledge and success with the UK grid connection processes and compliance to join and lead on our client's Utility-scale BESS Projects

Taylor Hopkinson are proudly engaged with our industry-leading client who are looking for a UK renewable-energy project experienced Technical Director to join the team and lead on their BESS projects throughout the UK.

Role

  • Provide technical and commercial leadership for HV design power system modelling, BESS technology and Connection agreements
  • Oversee contract negotiations and ensure cost optimisation and risk mitigation related to grid integration, substation design, and contracts
  • Ensure compliance with UK Grid code, CUSC and Grid Connection Agreements to drive project’s viability and financial success
  • You’ll provide your own specialist expertise, ideally within HV design, grid connections and BESS, and supplement additional expertise required through established contractor
  • Undertake technology and contractor technical reviews for BESS and renewable projects, ensuring compatibility, cost-effectiveness, and regulatory compliance
  • Manage technical due diligence and the relationship with Lenders Technical Advisors and Owners Engineers

Requirements

  • Bachelors of Electrical Engineering with related experience
  • Demonstrable success in engineering for energy infrastructure including hands-on design experience
  • Expertise in multiple of the following key areas: Substations, HV switchgear, HV protection, bulk earthworks and power system modelling
  • Able to balance Technical and Commercial priorities
  • Expertise in Substation design and UK grid connection processes (National Grid ESO, CUSC)
  • Successful experience negotiating contracts with technology providers and BoP/EPC contractors
  • Able to work on a hybrid model from the London office (roughly 2-3 days per week in office)
