Vice President Offshore Platform

Taylor Hopkinson is retained by CIP to appoint a Vice President, Offshore Platform.

This position will sit within the Offshore Wind Platform (OFP) team and works strategically with Offshore Wind across CIP’s investment funds. The team works within numerous areas, including:

  • Development of strategies for how to best address market opportunities
  • Initiating entry into new markets and advancing CIP’s local position
  • Originating and maturing early-stage project opportunities across CIP fund strategies

The team is part of the Cross Fund & Cross Technology function and works closely with investment teams across the relevant fund strategies shaping and building CIP’s long term offshore wind pipeline and footprint globally. You will be working closely together with an experienced team in a rapidly evolving productive environment. We bring experts together with backgrounds in commercial, regulatory, development, legal, consulting and financial careers, among others.

The Role

  • As Vice President in the OFP team you will contribute to shape CIP’s world leading Offshore Wind pipeline by delivering market strategies and overseeing early-stage project development.
  • As part of your day-to-day responsibilities, you can expect to:
  • Screening new markets and developing prioritisation recommendations based on in-depth understanding of Offshore Wind fundamentals in target markets
  • Originating and maturing early-stage project opportunities involving both greenfield development and competitive tenders
  • Directing CIP’s entry into new markets and advance its local position by securing strategic development partnerships and shaping regulation through advocacy with key public stakeholders
  • Supporting investment teams in strategic Offshore Wind M&A transaction opportunities
  • Developing high-quality materials to secure mandates, report on progress and socialise strategies to internal stakeholders in the relevant discussion forums
  • Acting as CIP representative in key markets and projects when interacting with Joint Venture partners and external stakeholders
  • Establishing effective collaboration with internal CIP teams across fund strategies as well as advisors and service providers
  • Supporting fundraising activities in Offshore Wind-related tasks
  • Contributing to training and mentoring junior team members and establishing a positive, professional and collegiate working environment

The candidate

Required experience

  • Several years of relevant experience in project development or infrastructure investment organisations.
  • Experience in origination and/or market- and early-stage project development in the Offshore Wind industry would be an advantage but is not a prerequisite (existing external network in industry an advantage)
  • Experienced in developing & communicating strategic recommendations within an investment or corporate environment
  • Experience in establishing and maturing Joint Venture partnerships and associated contractual agreements
  • Knowledge of regulatory environment in the energy sector and stakeholder engagement practices to shape desired outcomes
  • Knowledge of M&A transaction processes will be positively considered
  • Excellent project management skills, with ability to efficiently handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to provide insight from complex analyses and communicate these effectively to different audiences
  • Collaborative mindset with the confidence to exercise judgement appropriately, engaging with colleagues at all levels of seniority
  • Frequent presence in Copenhagen and occasional travel to relevant target markets required
