Wind Engineering Manager
Location: Tokyo, Japan
Working for a renewable energy developer who are one of the leaders for offshore and onshore wind projects across the APAC region. We are now supporting them with their search for a Wind Engineering Manager who will lead their efforts for wind turbines assessment, selection and review. This will be a long-term role based in their offices in Tokyo.
Key Responsibilities:
– Lead project-specific selection and approval of wind turbines following consideration of design evolution, site conditions, certification, logistics, performance, maintainability and reliability.
– Take care of OEM discussions, Early works agreement, Procurement of OEM/WTG, Service availability agreement, and Service maintenance agreement.
– Manage turbine due diligence for new projects and advise development and engineering teams in relation to wind resource assessment, energy yield estimation, grid code compliance and environmental impacts
– Evaluation of new turbine technologies from a life-cycle management perspective, assisting the operations team in establishing standard operating procedures and liaising with third-party service providers.
– Support the development team in framing appropriate wind turbine and SCADA contract terms (ie. warranties, guarantees, specifications, and other requirements).
– Train and mentor new wind engineers
Qualifications:
– Minimum 5 years’ experience of engineer or assessment in wind power plant business
– Strong interpersonal and communication skills
– Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
– Proactive and can-do attitude
– Business level written and spoken English & minimum of intermediate Japanese
