7 opportunities in Italy’s growing solar and storage sectors

As Italy’s solar and storage sectors grow, we’re working with leading companies to deliver a range of key roles, supporting ambitious development targets.

Italy’s solar and storage markets have seen impressive growth in recent years, thanks to ambitious climate and energy targets pushed forward by its previous government.

The country currently produces over a third of its electricity from renewables. And despite uncertainty caused by the recent political transition, there are signs that the new government in Rome will aim to lower greenhouse gas emissions, create jobs and boost the economy through clean growth. It’s hoped that the previous government’s aim to generate 30% total energy consumption and 55% of electricity generation from renewables will also remain a priority for the incoming administration.

“Solar and storage capacity in Italy is growing and the forecast is for this trend to continue,” says Claudia Cataldo, our Italian solar market specialist.

“Growth in solar wasn’t hugely impacted by the pandemic and the market is expected to grow 7% year-on-year until at least 2027. And commercial and industrial energy storage capacity is increasing: there are several large projects coming online in 2023 and 2024. The direction of travel should ease some of the concerns that exist around grid flexibility and energy security. It’s a really exciting time to get involved in the market here – it’s growing all the time.”

Taylor Hopkinson is working with three leading solar and storage companies to fill several key roles across Italy. These strategically important positions include General Manager, Heads of Development, Project Developers, Grid Connection Managers and Land Origination Managers.

This is an exciting opportunity for both experienced and junior solar and storage professionals who are looking to develop and grow within a fast-moving industry with huge potential.
