Taylor Hopkinson are working with a leading wind energy business to assist in the appointment of a Head of HSE to join their busy Edinburgh based operation. This key hire will implement HSE policies and procedures for a large scale offshore wind project and the successful candidate will have the gravitas, personality and leadership qualities to effectively perform the duties of the role.

The role:

  • Execute HSE activities related to early phase survey and monitoring activities
  • Assist Project Manager on HSE in stakeholder activities
  • Promoting HSE and implementing site specific HSE programmes and plans
  • Providing coaching and assistance to he wider team and others with regard to the implementation of company HSE Standards, statutory requirements, industry standards, and best practice
  • Establish activities and plans to monitor HSE,  supporting the overall project programme including inspections, reviews and assessments
  • Establish and implement HSE requirements in ITT processes for contracts in line with the contract strategy
  • Ensure compliance of sub-contractor/vendor at site, supported by the site management team
  • Plan and support a program for training, motivation and further competency development for site personnel and ensure site HSE training programmes are implemented
  • Monthly HSE management reporting
  • Ensure that monthly reports from contractors and suppliers give the necessary information on HSE matters to perform their reporting

The Candidate:

  • Relevant degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Health, Safety and Environment specialist within wind energy industry
  • Significant experience within HSE management from execution of large projects in the offshore wind industry
  • Good knowledge of current UK authorities HSE regulations and standards 
  • Knowledge of HSE work processes on construction work sites
  • Practical experience from implementation through to operations in an offshore wind environment is an advantage
  • Detailed knowledge of project management best practice
  • Result oriented, structured and flexible, with the ability to work both in teams as well as independently
