Head of O&M

Head of O&M required to join an international sustainable energy business headquartered in the UK. They develop, construct, own and operate premium solutions for critical energy applications that are currently poorly served or unsustainable and have the potential to be radically improved by a turn-key product and service offering that incorporate solar energy and energy storage.

This is a newly created role to set up the Operations & Maintenance division for a portfolio of projects include solar farms, solar & hybrid and EV forecourts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate integrity, strong initiative, work ethic, as well as a focus on safety and quality of work on a continuous basis
  • Develop and lead an industry leading O&M function
  • Supervise, lead and train all operations team members in the UK, meeting regularly with direct reports to review their progress in meeting personal, departmental goals and objectives
  • Ensure that work being performed in the region meets or exceeds O&M standards
  • Ensure that all company and departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), fully developed are being followed
  • Ensure that the O&M department is meeting all contractual obligations. (e.g. performance and availability guarantees, preventive maintenance, reactive response times, landscape management, panel cleaning, non-conformity correction, customer notification, etc.)
  • Ensure or client meets all local, domestic and international regulations as required to operate in the UK region
  • Track and report to both management and customers on the progress of pending work, work in progress, and completed work
  • Prepare management reports on medium and longer-term issues
  • Respond to and resolve customer requests (e.g. warranty claims, site upgrades, technical support etc.)
  • Price, develop and submit proposals to customers for out of scope work
  • Obtain quotes, develop and submit PO’s for sub-contracted work within the O&M/CRM platform
  • Manage designated region to meet profit and cost targets set in defined budgets
  • Interface with SCADA/DAS & ROS systems to understand on-site issues with the ability to communicate to both senior management and customers
  • Review and comment on ‘case documentation’ to ensure that O&M standards are met and the customer receives a complete and detailed report
  • Act as escalation point for technical or customer issues that are not successfully resolved by direct reports within the agreed SLA and escalation procedures
  • Such other duties and responsibilities as may be determined by the [Director of Operations O&M/ COO]
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes including anti-bribery policy and Environmental and Quality Management System and Policy (compliant with ISO 9001 and 14001).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience
  • Thorough understanding of diverse business processes and strategy development as it relates to industry leading OMM capability within a Utility scale Solar environment
  • Proven experience as business manager or relevant role within the solar industry
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of solar plant & Energy Storage construction and OMM and comprehensive experience of how on-site equipment interacts with the overall system
  • Must hold appropriate Electrical Licenses
  • Industry leading SCADA/NOC/RMS leadership experience
  • Proven experience understanding and implementing H&S regulations
  • Knowledge of human resource management principles and procedures
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills
  • Outstanding communication (oral & written) and interpersonal abilities
  • Excellent knowledge of MS suite
  • Passionate about renewables
  • Experience with managing various stakeholders and sub-contractors
  • Self-driven, focused, results and quality oriented
  • Team player and innovative with sound judgement and solutions driven
  • The ability to foster self-motivation to achieve tight deadlines
  • Cordial and professional with excellent client facing skills
  • Potential to travel up to 25% of the time
  • Required to work in office conditions and be in the assigned office more than 50% of the time
  • Required to work in field conditions as needed
  • Work in a fast-changing environment which may require quick decisions with limited processes and procedures
  • Clean driving license
