Senior O&M Engineer required to work within the O&M package, supporting the handover of our client's offshore wind project to the site team and asset management functions.

The Role

  • Act as the primary interface between O&M package and the EPC packages covering handover of wind turbines, array cables, foundations, SCADA, facilities and transmission assets
  • Provide clear reports on the status of each package including risks, scope, programme and documentation
  • Support the project to demonstrate full compliance with CDM regulations through the handover process
  • Implement the project governance process around handover of assets from execution into operations
  • The role reports into the Lead O&M Engineer but will need to work independently across the project, managing interfaces into each EPC package as well as the site team and asset management functions
  • Prioritise HSE and elevate HSE risks to the project team
  • For each EPC package (wind turbines, array cables, foundations, SCADA, facilities and OFTO);
    • Identify risks and work towards their resolution for handover
    • Manage the review of key documents prior to acceptance
    • Identify and resolve design and installation issues through as-built information
    • Ensure contractors deliverables meet O&M requirements
    • Ensure interim maintenance meets O&M requirements and records are handed over
    • Provide a clear handover to O&M of ongoing contractual provisions such as spares, warranties, defect periods and training.
    • Provide an overview of key O&M documentation for each package
    • Produce information needed to compile asset register within SAP
    • Support the production of O&M maintenance plans as required
  • Manage regular interfaces to asset integrity management team
  • Work with project functions to manage quality, document control, risk management, scope and programme
  • Work with the  site team and other O&M package team members to support the successful handover into operations

The requirements

  • Degree level qualifications in a relevant technical subject
  • Chartered engineer status is preferred
  • The position requires a balance between detailed technical knowledge and an understanding of the functions and requirements of a major capital project
  • A clear understanding of the management of risks, budget, scope and responsibilities at handover is essential
  • Project governance procedures must be understood as these will apply through the handover process
  • The applicant must be able to demonstrate good knowledge of wind farm power systems
  • Experience working with electricity generation technologies and/or electrical systems is essential
  • Project management experience is required and qualifications are preferred.
  • Offshore and operations experience is preferred.
  • A good understanding of relevant HSE regulations and how they apply to offshore wind
  • IT literate with the ability to operate MS Office systems and other IT based project management software
  • Flexible to travel around the UK and overseas
