An exciting opportunity to work for a global technology and engineering organisation specialised in predictive analytics, internet of things and machinery health market in the wind industry. Headquartered in the UK, has offices in the USA, Korea, India, Australia and are a truly global, rapidly expanding SME. This opportunity is for their newly built office in Shanghai, China.

You must have the right to work in China.


  • Maintain current client relationship and identifying areas for potential clients
  • Contact potential clients to establish a business relationship and travel to customers and pitch products and services
  • Attend conferences and marketing events
  • Develop new sales areas and improving sales through various methods
  • Research the latest in the business industry and creating new opportunities to expand business
  • Build our opportunity pipeline and close opportunities
  • Scope and develop business opportunities with the engineering team
  • Ensure regional performance targets are met
  • Local P&L responsibility
  • Line management of local engineering staff (optional)


  • B.S. in engineering or related areas. Master preferred.
  • A minimum of 5-10 years' experience of business to business development experience in wind market
  • A track record of successful strategic business development in the technical B2B sector
  • The ability to scope, price and communicate high quality complex technical proposals
  • The ability to establish office operations in a new market as well as delivering on business development goals
  • A systematic approach to developing and executing strategic business development plans
  • Strong communication and contract/commercial and relationship management skills
  • Fluent English and Mandarin (very strong written and spoken English language skills are an absolute essential)
  • Experience of building product/service capability within a distributor/partner
  • Experience in conducting business, such as contracting, negotiating terms, managing suppliers or similar
  • Experience of marketing and selling technical solutions
  • Willingness to travel to deliver projects on a semi-regular basis
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members in our international offices
  • Commitment to safe working practices and safety culture

Knowledge of one or more of the additional areas would be an advantage:

  • Reliability engineering
  • Cloud based software or edge processing solutions
  • Condition monitoring techniques, vibration analysis, statistical analysis, data mining and signal processing methods
  • Vibration or structural analysis
  • Machine testing, measurement and data processing
  • General mechanical engineering design and analysis
  • Hands on machinery skills
  • Basic networking and electrical knowledge
