Taylor Hopkinson is retained to appoint a Commercial Sales Manager for a global leader in the renewable energy industry.

As a Commercial Sales Manager you will manage the sales process externally and internally regarding commercial and contractual matters. You are responsible, in the sales team, for optimizing the financial and commercial outcome of projects and takes an active role in negotiating the commercial parts of the contracts.

The role

  • Co-drive activities/strategy implementation in the sales team together with the Sales Director and Sales Project Manager.
  • Lead the commercial and legal negotiations and all business case related items; develop the negotiation strategy on commercial terms and conditions and manage the process up to signing of the contract.
  • Lead the risk workshops. Review the alignment of commercial risks with approval mandates and calculation contingencies. Contribute to the improvement of standard risk approvals and internal sales processes based on customer feedback.
  • Prepare approval documentation. Present and obtain sufficient mandate on legal, commercial, and financial risks during approval meetings with senior management.
  • Support in the preparation of project specific sales forecasts and budgets.
  • Support early customer engagement and collaboration including consultation with customers on commercial aspects, financing models, financial engineering, and contractual detailing.
  • Support development of winning strategy with commercial inputs and estimations.
  • Adaptation of business cases based on negotiations and customer input.
  • Clarification, annotation, mark-up and negotiation of commercial and financial terms and conditions.
  • Elaboration of commercial and financial documents for the sales and bidding process.
  • Commercial evaluation of risk and opportunity analysis in alignment with experts and stakeholders.
  • Manage the project cost calculation in alignment with the Cost Manager and Commercial Project Manager until signed at order entry level (OIC).


  • Academic background in Business Administration, Finance, Legal or comparable education with professional experience.
  • International project sales experience, preferably in the (wind) energy or construction industry.
  • Profound knowledge in legal aspects, project financing, commercial topics, calculation methods/finance models, contract management and contract negotiation.
  • Ability to understand customer commercial requirements and bid evaluation methods.
  • Strong awareness on commercial financial topics (bonds, escalation, currency, indemnities, liabilities, etc.).
  • Team player with customer focus, initiative, and assertiveness.
  • High degree of accountability and commitment.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Willingness to travel and work in a global environment.
  • Fluent in English.
