Opportunity for an experienced Director-level candidate to lead the Financial Asset Management team of a leading international Wind and Solar AM provider, focusing across technical accounting elements including, but not limited to, hedge accounting and HBLV modelling.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a 12-person-strong financial asset management team, providing solutions to support solar/wind energy projects and funds on behalf of many of North America's leading energy players
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the team
  • Own client relationships in relation to Financial AM services, ensuring the highest level of customer service and satisfaction throughout
  • Build, structure, and manage a high-functioning, self-sufficient team of expert Finance Associates, Supervisors and Accounting Managers, completing accounting requirements on RE portfolios in line with U.S. GAAP principles
  • Seek opportunities to optimize and increase scope of work on both new & existing client portfolios, managing risks and challenges of existing scope
  • Respond to client requests, ensuring alignment with scope of work and dispute resolution as needed
  • Oversee and optimize the on boarding of new solar/wind investment vehicles, such as partnership flip, sales leaseback, inverted leases etc.
  • Support accounting system integration with company's AM platform, promoting internal use of system & optimizing associated processes to ensure compliance and efficiency
  • Lead team activities, including the preparation of opening balances, providing explanations for variances, completing reconciliations, managing bank accounts of and AP/AR, budgeting processes and generation of monthly & quarterly financial statements for multiple investors in accordance with GAAP
  • Oversight of generation and maintenance of HLBV calculations and tracking models, using GAAP accounting for tax equity partnership investments

Requirements:

  • Minimum 8 years' experience in Renewable Energy financial accounting and project accounting, including partnership flip, sale leaseback, inverted leases, lease pass-through etc.
  • Experience managing offshore accounting functions & developing cost-effective resource strategies
  • Experience of developing and managing high-performing accounting teams
  • Strong knowledge of leading accounting software platforms and recognises relative strengths and weaknesses
  • Extensive U.S. GAAP, financial reporting and internal controls knowledge
  • Good knowledge of HLBV modelling and maintenance
  • Highest levels of integrity, with an ability to create and maintain the highest levels of confidentiality when dealing with sensitive situations and confidential information
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail, strong problem solvers and good team/people manager with excellent soft skills
  • Familiarity with RE asset management services and RE project life cycle
  • Demonstrable experience managing audits and tax filings
  • Knowledge of partnership and/or tax advantaged accounting
  • CPA/Accounting degree strongly preferred
  • Experience with hedge energy accounting preferred
