Electrical Engineering Manager required by a leading renewable energy developer and operator. The Electrical Engineering Manager reports to the Head of Engineering and is responsible for all aspects of wind energy engineering across the development, construction, and warranty period. This includes onshore and offshore wind, and their integration with other technologies where appropriate. The role will be based in the UK.

Role:

  • Perform and/or supervise electrical engineering studies, including grid network analysis, on-site collection system design, short-circuit, protection, energy quality studies and wind turbine internal electrical characteristics
  • Understanding technology evolution and risk analysis of new technologies
  • Interface with grid utilities and the project and eventual contractors
  • Interaction with supplier sales and technical teams from electrical equipment suppliers and contractors
  • Tracking market technology trends and efficiency improvements, understanding of capex and opex evolution
  • Work with the procurement team and provide support during scouting, tendering and negotiation activities. Scoping, specifying and negotiating external technical/engineering consultancy agreements and construction contracts, identifying and mitigating interface gaps
  • Providing technical risk register inputs
  • Provide technical support to construction team regarding compliance with grid codes, technical queries, and takeover activities
  • Assist Technical Asset Management team during end of warranty inspections and performance checks and testing
  • Scoping and supervision of compliance assessments and subsequent mitigations where necessary
  • Supporting M&A activities, review and assessment of 3rd party reports, scoping additional works where required, risk analysis, adjustments to assumptions for valuation purposes
  • Support the development and construction phases of projects in full compliance with statutory and Company Health, Safety and Environmental standards
  • Understanding and promotion of sustainable design and its implementation

Requirements:

  • Engineering degree (electrical, mechanical, aerospace, energy) or Math, Physics
  • Experience of scoping / review / analysis / design / studies of electrical aspects of renewable generation technologies
  • Interface management between the project owners, contractors and the network owners / managers
  • Change management control during design and contracting phase
  • Experience of technical due diligence process
  • Pragmatic and creative problem solving
  • Excellent communication skills (internal and external stakeholders and partners, technical and non-technical)
  • Full clean driving license
  • Fluent English speaker
  • Understanding and experience of environmental and sustainability aspects is desirable
  • Additional languages skills are desirable
  • MS Office, Autocad or similar, and Adobe will be the tools primarily used in this role
