We're currently recruiting for our client, the global renewable energy developer and IPP for the offshore wind energy farms in APAC. With extensive project development experience in the development, construction, operation, and maintenance, they have established themselves as one of the few offshore wind companies in the world that have a proven track record across the life cycle of offshore wind farms.

We are seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Electrical Package Manager or Lead Electrical Package System Engineer, depending on the technical expertise and experience, to oversee all electrical engineering aspects of offshore wind projects, from concept to execution, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices, both in technical and commercial aspects.

*This managerial position requires extensive experience in the HV Power Systems, offshore wind farm experience is a must for this role.*

Job Scope

The Electrical Package Manager/Lead Engineer is the technical know-how expert and all related commcercial aspects within the company and is setting the standards and guidelines for engineering disciplines. This role plays an important role across the full lifecycle of the project from origination to decommissioning related to cables, OSS, ONSS, Grid, SCADA and shall work closely with the other functions in the organisation to achieve the long-term vision for teh company to be a leading renewable energy company in Asia.

Responsibilities

  1. Technical Expertise:
    • Oversee all electrical engineering aspects of offshore wind projects, from concept to execution, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, construction, procurement, and project management, to provide electrical engineering insights and support during project planning and execution.
    • Review and evaluate technical proposals, design specifications, and electrical systems for offshore wind installations, including substation design, cable systems, and interconnections.
    • Conduct thorough technical assessments, risk analyses, and problem-solving to ensure effective resolution of electrical challenges during project execution.
    • Lead technical meetings, liaise with stakeholders, and ensure effective communication of electrical requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
  2. Commercial Management:
    • Play a key role in contract negotiations and vendor selection related to electrical systems and components, ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance with project objectives.
    • Collaborate with procurement teams to source, evaluate, and manage electrical equipment suppliers and contractors.
    • Monitor project budgets, expenses, and timelines related to electrical packages, identifying cost-saving opportunities and mitigating risks.
    • Review and approve invoices, change orders, and other financial documents related to electrical packages, ensuring accurate billing and cost tracking.
  3. Project Execution and Quality Assurance:
    • Coordinate and oversee electrical package installation, testing, and commissioning activities, ensuring compliance with quality standards and safety regulations.
    • Conduct regular inspections and audits to assess the performance of electrical installations, identifying any deviations from project requirements and implementing corrective actions.
    • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to resolve technical issues, change requests, and scope variations, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budget constraints.
  4. HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment):
    • Promote and uphold a strong safety culture within the electrical package team and across the broader project organization.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety and environmental regulations and implement appropriate measures to minimize risks and hazards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or advanced in Electrical Engineering. With a focus on HV Power Systems is much preferred.
  • At least 12 years of proven experience in HV electrical engineering, with at least 3 year of working experience in the offshore wind industry, and exposure to project management and commercial aspects.
  • Strong knowledge of offshore wind electrical systems, including substations, cables, interconnections, and power transmission.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing contracts, vendors, and procurement processes in the renewable energy sector.
  • Solid understanding of relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to offshore wind electrical systems.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) is a plus.
  • Strong commitment to safety and environmental sustainability.
  • Professional language proficiency in English, and preferred in Chinese.
