Electrical System & Grid Package Manager working directly of the developer of two floating offshore wind projects in the UK.

This is a full time, permanent staff position.

Role

The Electrical System and Grid Package Manager will lead on optimising the efficient export system design from dynamic floating offshore wind assets to the onshore grid connection point. In addition, ensuring that the company complies with all grid connection agreement obligations.

The main focus of the role will be package management of the Electrical System and Grid Package for both projects, throughout development phase.

  • Support on HSEQ management for the projects, actively working towards the zero-harm project objective
  • Management of key project suppliers including the substation and cables contractors.
  • Management of external supporting designers.
  • Lead on optimising the electrical system design inclusive of electrical modelling.
  • Undertake detailed thermal assessment for the selected export solutions.
  • Compile, issue and assess electrical supplier RFIs
  • Finalise the project electrical design statement
  • Offshore substation concept selection and robust design management
  • Onshore substation design development and optimisation
  • HDD feasibility study and landfall construction methodology selection and development including the cable pull-in analysis.
  • Onshore civil engineering management and detailed location optimisation including technical support to asset owner engagement.
  • Development of cable crossing designs
  • Grid connection strategy development / management / implementation
  • Close liaison with NGESO with respect to BGW grid agreements
  • Management of Grid connection agreements and associated obligations/Processes.
  • Develop robust cable routes (export and inter-array cables) and associated stability, protection and burial assessments.
  • Prepare, review, and disseminate key information through clear engineering maps / drawings and storyboards.
  • Contribute to internal reporting, programme updates, cost books and risk registers.
  • Develop the equipment and function specifications for RFQs.
  • Deliver and manage all engineering documents and drawings in relation to this package.
  • Ensure compliance with the CDM regulations and that safety is a core design priority;
  • Ensure all applicable regulatory requirements and standards are exceeded;
  • Competently assess and challenge engineering designs, technical reports and associated deliverables;
  • Preparation and presentation of project literature, reports and briefing notes including the competent use of all relevant software required to professionally convey project information;
  • Compliance with JV governance requirements / management reporting as required.

Requirements

  • Engineering Degree with significant experience in fixed or floating offshore wind
  • Demonstrable experience working on electrical or substation packages in the offshore wind sector.
  • Have held the role of package manager previously.
  • Experience in contract and sub-contract management
  • Experience of offshore wind project development in the UK
  • Knowledge of the regulatory requirements
  • Excellent organisation skills with the ability to manage own workload, meet timescales and coordinate a number of external and internal stakeholders,
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to enable effective discussion and transfer of information between, contractors, team members and other stakeholders,
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • The technical skills to understand complex offshore operations and the ability to exchange with and understand subject experts,
  • Ability to work as a member of a large, multidisciplinary and international team,
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to create clear technical drawings and storyboards (CAD or GIS).
