Fabrication Manager required for a leading Offshore Wind Farm developer, based in Scotland
Responsibilities
- Ensure a strong HSE focus within the team including risk identification and control. Demonstrate leadership in safety and proactively minimise risk and enhance the safety culture throughout company and subcontractors.
- Provide design constructability advice and expertise to other team members.
- Provide input to the primary and secondary steel design to improve the constructability and practicality of the design.
- Support tendering process towards fabricators, including responding to clarifications, queries, and input into fabrication contract documentation to benefit the management and performance of the contract.
- Participates in the pre-job planning process related to fabrication.
- Assist with the day-to-day co-ordination and management at the fabrication yards including co-ordination between the Engineering Contractor, Fabrication and T&I.
- Assist with the management of the site team which consists of HSE, Quality, Technical support personnel and other related personnel.
- Assist with the management of the site inspection team (together with the Site Quality Leads) to enforce conformity and compliance to specifications and standards.
- Assist with the fabrication contract administration when required.
- Maintain progress tracking of the schedule and advise management team of progress against agreed schedules and advising of steps to optimise.
- Monitor construction productivity & activities, including safety performance during onshore project phase.
- Monitor progress, quality, cost, design & specification and safety and environmental compliance.
- Ensure appropriate action is identified and taken in the event of deviation from the requirements.
- Supervise 3rd party construction and commissioning personnel during fabrication and onshore commissioning.
- Ensures scope growth is managed and communicated to management.
- Assist with the co-ordination of change requests via VOR and VO process and site queries via Interface Management Process.
- Monitor Planned versus Actual resource levels and ensure construction contractors and subcontractors have adequate resources to do the job, that equipment is in a safe working condition and that permits and/or equipment certificates are available.
- Ensure project documentation is completed in a satisfactory and timely manner including material inspection reports and certifications.
- Follow up of free issued materials to the fabrication site, and ensure free issued materials are correctly received, stored and handled by the subcontractor.
- Assist with the materials management process including timely receipt of critical materials.
- Receive and evaluate progress reports; resolve problem areas.
- Work with QA/QC Manager to provide adequate inspection resources.
- Resolve quality issues in conjunction with QA/QC Manager.
- Manage the completion of Inspection Test Record, Certification, As-Builts and Handover paperwork.
- Ensure all personnel are inducted at site including the requirement to work within the guidelines of agreed Site Work Instructions.
- Ensure all Site Work Instructions and or procedures are followed.
Requirements
- Ordinary/Higher National Qualification.
- Onsite fabrication experience in a leadership role.
- Experience in the offshore wind, oil and gas, or similar industry.
- Experience working as a welder.
- Experience managing an onsite team to deliver a fabrication scope.
- Experience of Serial fabrication of steel work.
- Experience of installing electrical systems to fabricated structures.
- Experience of electrical commissioning.
- Experience of steel reinforced concrete fabrication.
