A Grid Connection Engineer is required to work for a leading Offshore wind developer in Hamburg

Role

  • The Engineer Primary and Secondary Systems Grid Connection On-/Offshore acts as project expert for all electrotechnical components of the grid connection system.
  • They are required to establish a 220 kV and a 66 kV grid connection system, such as, 220/66 kV power transformers, 220 kV shunt reactors, 220 kV GIS, 66 kV GIS, 220 kV and 66 kV cables and fittings, Auxiliary power transformers and neutral point formers, Main and reserve protection, Auxiliary power units AC/DC, Low voltage cabling, Protection concepts.
  • Coordination of all work package-specific tasks and interfaces. Collaboration with other work packages and departments (procurement, operations, logistics, etc.) and key stakeholders (partners, regulators)
  • Support of the award negotiations from a technical point of view
  • Review and comment on the design, documentation and make design decisions and recommendations
  • Identifying and mitigating technical risks and ensuring that the design enables safe and efficient manufacture, installation, commissioning, testing and operation
  • Responsible for conducting technical audits and inspections during the manufacturing process and for providing technical support to the installation, commissioning and O&M teams
  • Management of subcontractors and, if required, additional experts in the package
  • Participation in the creation and implementation of the commissioning strategy
  • Close cooperation with the O&M manager and SCADA experts
  • The Engineer Primary and Secondary Systems Grid Connection On-/Offshore ensures that essential safety precautions (in accordance with legislation, best industry practice and company standards) are established and maintained on the high and medium voltage transmission network before activities such as commissioning, testing, repairs, maintenance or capital replacement take place;
  • Contact point for all questions concerning the technical part of the grid connection system technology.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the client in the preparation and evaluation of technical tenders or offers in one of the disciplines specified below
  • Assessment, quantitative and qualitative evaluation of the proposed solutions of suppliers and service providers, including comments on changes or similar
  • Knowledge of the current state of the art and technical development in the relevant field of activity (technical discipline)
  • Project management and control of contractor's overall project phases in the relevant technical discipline
  • Control and monitoring of the contractually compliant performance of services with regard to scope of delivery, deadlines, costs, quality, risks and occupational safety
  • Ensuring that services are performed in accordance with the contract with regard to scope of delivery, deadlines, costs, quality, risks and occupational safety
  • Interface to internal and external project participants
  • Monitoring of compliance with the client and defined HSSE framework conditions
  • Participation in and management of construction meetings
  • Adhere to the project manual and all relevant project processes and the assigned forms/templates
  • Travel to production and offshore sites

Requirements

  • Qualification is a completed university degree in the relevant field of activity business
  • Fluent use of English language in spoken and written form, German and Polish preferable
  • The following certificates (including BOSIET, PSAgA, Offshore Medical in accordance with "S1 Guideline 002/43: Occupational medical tests for employees on offshore wind turbines and offshore installations") are required for offshore relevant positions
