Our client is a fast-growing renewable energy company developing, constructing, and operating solar, storage and onshore wind projects throughout Europe.
The Grid Manager will be a key team member responsible for managing the grid connection process of our projects. This role requires a thorough understanding of the UK grid infrastructure and regulations, as well as a proven ability to secure and manage grid connections for onshore renewable energy projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Grid Connection Strategy:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive grid connection strategy for onshore renewable projects, in alignment with regulatory and grid operator requirements.
- Grid Application and Compliance:
- Prepare and submit grid connection applications to the relevant regulatory authorities and grid operators.
- Ensure compliance with all technical and regulatory requirements throughout the connection process.
- Stakeholder Management:
- Act as the primary point of contact with grid operators, regulatory agencies, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with key industry partners to expedite connection processes.
- Grid Capacity Assessment:
- Collaborate with engineering teams to assess the grid's capacity and suitability for project connections.
- Identify potential grid upgrades or reinforcements and coordinate with the grid operator as needed.
- Cost Estimation and Budgeting:
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for grid connection works and ensure projects stay within budget.
- Manage financial aspects of grid connection projects, including invoicing and cost tracking.
- Project Scheduling:
- Develop and maintain project schedules for grid connection activities.
- Ensure timely grid connection to align with overall project timelines.
- Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks and challenges related to grid connections and implement mitigation strategies.
- Keep abreast of regulatory changes and adapt strategies accordingly.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
- Extensive experience in grid connection management for onshore renewable projects in the UK.
- In-depth knowledge of UK grid regulations, standards, and compliance requirements.
- Strong project management and budgeting skills.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation abilities.
- Familiarity with grid connection software and tools.
- Membership in relevant professional organisations and certifications are advantageous.
