Taylor Hopkinson has been exclusively retained to build out a project team, who will develop and execute a Scotwind project, for a new offshore wind consortium.

The Onshore Consent Manager will provide support with critical consenting, compliance and environmental management activities relating to the onshore elements of the consortium's offshore wind projects.

This is a full-time role based in Edinburgh.

Role

  • Reporting to the Consents Lead, you will be responsible for delivery of the permits and consents related to the onshore activities for the offshore wind farms.
  • Working with the wider team to ensure effective liaison with national government and regulatory authorities
  • Working closely with project grid team and interface on grid connection discussions.
  • Manage and work with specialist consultants and contractors on matters relating to consents and technical environmental issues.
  • Write scope of work documents and reviewing key technical documents relating to consenting activities.
  • Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders including industry working groups, where appropriate.
  • Take ownership and responsibility for distinct elements of work within the Consents team, contributing to the overall objectives of projects.
  • Implement and update the onshore consenting strategy, delivering on key milestones and to budget.
  • Ensure effective contribution to budget, programme, risk register processes as directed by the Consents Lead.
  • Ensure key project development documentation including commitments register, budget trackers, risk register, and programme are kept up to date.
  • Provide strategic advice and guidance on consenting approaches and compliance issues to the team and the projects.
  • Preparation of work scopes and specification for delivery at all stages of the project as necessary and manage the completion of these on time and on budget.
  • Management of consultants and legal input as necessary.

Requirements

  • Proactive, solution-focused approach to complex consenting / environmental issues.
  • Deep knowledge and experience of UK onshore planning/consenting/DCO activities relevant to offshore wind farms.
  • Demonstrable experience working within renewable energy or environmental consultancy, with a clear focus on project consenting and development, taking projects through the consenting process.
  • Knowledge and experience of environmental management and EIA in relation to large infrastructure projects either in development or construction.
  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline (such as marine biology, environmental science, engineering, planning, geography, law).
  • Ability to engage with and empathise with stakeholders.
