Ports & Logistics Engineer required for a leading Offshore Wind Farm developer, based in Scotland


  • Develop technical specifications, operational requirements and other documentation required for the tendering, contracting and execution of shipping, handling, ports services and other foundation logistics activities.
  • Scrutinize foundation design outputs, providing feedback on component shipping (inc. sea fastening), handling and preservation implications.
  • Undertake quality, capability and H&S audits of shipping and logistics contractor to verify their compliance with Employer's Requirements and identify construction risks.
  • Working with the procurement team review and assess tender responses from contractors, providing evaluations and recommendations to remedy tenderers' deviations to/specifications of scope of work, program, project management/execution and risks.
  • Oversee the development of shipping and handling logistics engineer activities, including sea fastening design, handling equipment specification, procedures and operational risk assessments.
  • In coordination with project quality and HS&E personnel plan and manage contractor oversight and surveillance activities.
  • Assist in the development of marshalling port team including inspectors, site coordinators, HSE monitoring and client representatives.
  • Identify and implementation of effective strategies to avoid, or mitigate, programme delays and cost growth.
  • Provide the primary technical interface between shipping and logistics contractors and project design, T&I and quality teams, ensuring the timely response to technical queries.
  • Provide technical leadership, coaching and guidance to site personnel.
  • Support project development/consenting activities by providing input on anticipated construction methods/plans and regular reporting on construction activities.
  • Oversee the handover / interface operations between contractors following shipping and port logistics activities.
  • Support technical due diligence processes.


  • Degree in a relevant engineering discipline, or with proven experience and competency in the field of heavy fabrication shipping and handling.
  • Industrial experience in fabrications, shipping and logistics.
  • Experience in port activities and heavy lifting essential.
  • Demonstrable understanding of health, safety and environmental best practice within port, marine and / or fabrication settings.
  • Planning of shipping and port operations including, cost estimating, logistics, workforce management, programme management and quality control.
  • Codes, standards, guidelines and regulations including UK marine operations.
  • Heavy lift / materials handling.
  • Knowledge of management and administration of shipping contracts such as BIMCO or similar.
