Excellent opportunity to join a highly regarded and experienced engineering team as Power Systems Engineer across several up and coming Transmission projects as the company expand and support the evolution of the UK's decarbonised electricity sector.
You will be technically capable, commercially aware, ambitious and driven with an ability to manage and solve problems. As a Power Systems Project Engineer you will contribute to the fast growth and success of the company, whilst ensuring projects are delivered to time and budget as well as the highest levels of HSE.
This is a permanent, staff role and can be based out of London or Scotland.
Role:
- Reporting principally to the Design Manager but also the Project Manager on a matrix management basis.
- Coordinate the design and construction from an engineering perspective ensuring the Employer's requirements are met.
- Assisting the PM in monitoring and managing programme, risks, variations early warnings.
- Leading technical coordination and interface meetings between the contractors during the design process.
- Manage Technical Query processes to and from the contractors.
- Coordinating the review of documentation, inputting with own and company available expertise but also using the Employer's own wider engineering resource.
- Where required, witness FAT tests and coordinate and input on the review of test
- During on site construction, manage design queries, variations interest to meet the Employer's Requirements, programme and cost.
- Co-ordinating engineering activities to ensure ongoing compliance with relevant ISO standards.
Requirements:
- Degree or relevant qualification Electrical Engineering, with a successful track record within the power industry projects, ideally in the UK electricity supply / generation industries.
- Project electrical engineering background with good broad understanding and experience of power engineering projects including interfaces with other disciplines such as mechanical and civils.
- Broad knowledge of power system components (cables, HV plant, light current).
- Ability to understand varied technical / practical challenges as they arise to progress project delivery.
- Good understanding of the commercial aspects of an EPC contract, project management, project planning, project controls and quality assurance for electrical projects.
- Numerate problem solver.
- Commercially aware.
- In depth technical capability coupled with practical skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing.
- Ability to work well with project partners.
- Experience of project development, tender and FEED activities would be an advantage.
- Detailed asset specific knowledge of transformers, cables, switchgear, light current (protection and SCADA) and offshore structures.
- Knowledge of Grid Code / SO-TO code interface procedures.
- Experience of submarine cable surveys, reburial and repair preparedness.
- IOSH, NEBOSH or other relevant safety qualifications.
