Taylor Hopkinson has been exclusively retained to build out a project team who will develop and execute Scotwind projects for a new offshore wind consortium.

The Project Engineer (Naval) will focus on supporting the floating offshore wind projects by providing technical input to floater foundation design, production of project scopes of work. This will include design tasks and design specifications, managing design consultants and EPCI contractors, reviewing design briefs, design reports and supporting design certification tasks. The Project Engineer will also support foundation design tasks for the fixed bottom jacket project if required.

This is a full time, staff role based in Edinburgh.

Role

  • Providing engineering support to the design of the floating offshore wind foundation through concept design, pre-feed, feed and detail design.
  • Attend and where required lead technical meetings with Design Consultants and Contactors.
  • Support the preparation of RFIs, RFQs and Scopes of Work for future tasks to be undertaken by Design Consultants and Contractors
  • Manage the delivery of the design tasks being undertaken by the Design Consultants.
  • Understand and translate engineering design issues into commercial impact on CAPEX and OPEX
  • Liaison with multi-disciplinary design teams across floating and fixed bottom projects.
  • Input into technical sections of Employer's Requirements for EPCI and Consultant
  • Prepare technical project reports for project team & senior
  • Undertake detailed due diligence reviews of
  • Undertake site inspections and site visits as required for testing and fabrication activites
  • Attend seminars and conference as
  • Ensure engineering activities are carried out to the highest quality standards, and in accordance with the relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Evaluation of new FOW products, concepts, and technologies from vendors and OEMS

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience of working in offshore wind and floating offshore wind projects
  • Primary degree in Naval Architecture/Structural Engineering or other relevant discipline for offshore engineering working on floating wind projects
  • Experience in design or installation of floating foundations highly desirable.
  • Experience in offshore floating wind foundation design, fabrication and offshore installation.
  • Knowledge of offshore wind foundation types, interpretation of ground conditions, anchor & mooring design, floating foundation fabrication techniques , interface design tasks for array cables and turbine installation procedures.
  • Understand and translate engineering design issues into commercial impact on CAPEX and OPEX assumptions.
  • Knowledge of the offshore windfarm development (Floating and Fixed Projects) and foundation design process.
  • Experience in the preparation of technical specifications and other technical documents for the design of floating offshore wind foundations.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and in particular, Health and Safety issues offshore.
  • Experience in tender/bid evaluation for offshore wind.
