Mechanical & Electrical QC Inspector required for a major offshore wind farm developer. Working on a freelance basis in Miaoli County, Taiwan.

Role

  • Promote and comply with all Company health and safety policies and procedures
  • Inspect and ensure the quality of work performed during the daily activities of the overall construction on a large-scale substation construction project. Included but not limited to; roads, environmental, excavations, concrete, rebar, substations, transmission lines, underground utilities, electrical HV/LV installation, cable installation and testing;
  • Demonstrate good organisational, planning and time management skills;
  • Review and comment on design deliverables provided by consultants and contractors;
  • Respond to contractor RFIs during course of construction;
  • Review FAT and SAT plans for appropriate equipment and attend such tests;
  • Perform QA/QC field inspections and punch list development;
  • Perform Job Safety Assessments and Safety Walks to identify job-site hazards;
  • Review commissioning reports and analyse system performance;
  • Work closely with interconnection and project engineers
  • Plan and conduct daily activities in a highly organised manner to ensure all QC and QA data are properly and accurately recorded;
  • On a daily basis monitor and record all work scope being executed and prepare a comprehensive Daily Report with measurement of daily quantities completed and resources utilised;
  • Prevent deficiencies through pre-construction quality control inspection;
  • Detect deficiencies and address deficiencies in a timely and effective manner;
  • Work closely with the field engineering staff acting as their field representative ensuring construction complies with the QA/QC requirements;
  • Interface with field supervision to maintain an open line of communication and reporting, monitor job progress, schedules and subcontractor performance and coordinate the operation of the field through management of field personnel;
  • Have proven field experience with outage planning, construction staging, and commissioning is considered an asset;
  • Compile all necessary information to create an operations and maintenance manual/file which may include subcontractor list with contacts and phone numbers and operation instructions for all components;
  • Maintain complete and accurate records during inspections so they can be transferred to permanent hard copy and/or electronic files;
  • Inspect the work and establish punch lists;
  • Maintain extra work authorisation log, identifying items and their resolutions;
  • Have capability of determining calibration status of measuring and test equipment; and
  • Interacting cross-functionally with Field Engineers and other team members.

 

Responsibilities

  • Electrical engineering experience in a Transmission and Distribution Utility or EPC organization designing substations or an Associates degree in Engineering Technology, Construction Management or related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality management systems;
  • Take reasonable care of your own and others health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Zero Injury principles;
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and public speaking skills;
  • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills;
  • National recognised qualification in engineering;
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly to manage engineering issues also in the construction and manufacturing sites;
  • Have excellent communication skills;
  • Possess strong quantitative and analytical skills;
  • Be ambitious, motivated and have the drive to succeed;
  • Be a team player;
  • Fluent English (written and spoken)
  • Mandarin (written and spoken).
