Vattenfall will build the largest onshore wind farm in Scotland

South Kyle Wind Farm will be home to 50 turbines. Each turbine will be 149.5 meters high and produce 4.8MW of capacity.

Vattenfall has reached a £320m agreement with the investment firm Greencoat UK Wind to supply turbines for their South Kyle wind farm.

Greencoat UK Wind will acquire 240MW, able to provide electricity to 170,000 homes, and Vattenfall will build and manage the project for at least ten years.

South Kyle wind farm will be located 5km to the east of Dalmellington between East Ayrshire and Dumfries and Galloway.

Work will go ahead once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.

The project will enable delivery of a £38 million community benefit investment over the lifetime of the wind farm.
