Offshore wind contracting FAQs

Contractors Hub

Over the years, we have provided contract teams to every offshore wind farm in Europe and we have grown to work with projects around the world. Contracting with Taylor Hopkinson combines the flexibility and tax advantages of owning your own business with the stability of having work continually lined up to minimise the down-time between projects.
We created this guide to help provide new and existing contractors with the information and resources you need to get started and run your own company.
Now with IR35 webinar recording regarding Off Payroll Working rules coming into effect from April 2021. Featuring experts from Taylor Hopkinson and Anita J Eunson, Director of Tax at Grant Thornton UK LLP.

Working as a contractor

Our Operations and Compliance teams work closely with international legal advisors and immigration partners to ensure that we work in line with ISO, IR35, MLC and other relevant international guidelines. This allows us to deliver an efficient and compliant service when setting up our contracts.

We provide you with support, information and advice throughout your contract period, and if you require any specialist services, we can refer you to reputable third parties.

To provide you with a compliant and legally binding Contractual Agreement for Services, we require the following information;

  • Details of your elected Umbrella Company or Private Limited Company
  • Relevant certification and qualifications in date
  • Relevant Insurance cover for contractors
  • Photographic ID - proof of right to work in country or relevant Visa application for overseas placements
  • UTR reference number (for UK PAYE contracts)

In-Time online timesheets
(Including Self-billing and InTime)

We use the online system InTime Timesheets to provide an efficient and flexible timesheet, expenses and invoice processing service. With InTime you submit timesheets and expenses using your smartphone or PC and receive digital approval, removing the need to submit paper timesheets. Our Finance team is on hand to support whenever you need us, via email or telephone.

In-Time Log-Ins At the beginning of your contract you will be sent a Welcome Pack including full timesheet and invoicing instructions, our payment calendar and your secure, personal login details and password.

We also partner with international immigration and mobility / relocation specialists to provide a full suite of services including Visa / Work Permit applications, relocation and local introductions, to make the transition into new cultures and environments as comfortable as possible.

NEW! One of our partners has launched a new interactive traveller hub which provides useful information on:
  • Key airline, hotel, car and rail travel alerts from around the world, which can be filtered by region
  • An interactive map, highlighting COVID-19 cases and recovery stats as well as important immigration, quarantine, social distancing and on the ground information such as public transport
  • A new chatbot style conversation tool that through AI helps customers sift through the alerts and information to answer questions based on their travel plans
