Engineering Manager – Power Station (CCGT)

Location: Keadby Power Station (Scunthorpe, England)

Working Pattern: Permanent, Full Time (Min. 50% of working time needs to be on-site)

The Engineering Manager, reporting to the Station Manager, will lead a dynamic and collaborative team across various disciplines and departments. The primary focus is to align with the strategic objectives of a world-class Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power station. This facility is actively exploring innovative solutions such as Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) and hydrogen technologies to decarbonize energy generation at the Keadby site. The goal is to ensure the continued provision of essential, flexible power in a net-zero emissions context.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Long-Term Asset Strategy: Define and execute the long-term asset strategy, including exploring net-zero options specific to the Keadby site.
  • Technical Governance: Ensure compliance with legislation and industry best practices within the Engineering function.
  • Outage Strategy and Project Management: Develop and implement effective outage strategies while managing critical projects.
  • Maintenance Optimization: Optimize maintenance strategies to align with the needs of our valued customers and stakeholders.
  • Root Cause Analysis and Innovation: Lead investigations into root causes of defects and drive innovative engineering solutions to enhance plant performance.
  • Budget and Contract Management: Oversee budget allocation and strategically manage contracts with key suppliers.
  • These responsibilities directly relate to the assets and operations of the power plant.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Completion of a degree in an Engineering discipline or an equivalent field.
  • Demonstrated ambition to advance within the company, aspiring to take on more senior roles.
  • Previous experience in management or leadership positions within the electricity sector or a comparable engineering industry.
  • A strong commitment to safety practices.
  • Proficiency in contract legislation, outage/project management, and regulations related to Health and Safety.
  • Familiarity with power station assets or similar systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to build high-performing teams.
  • Skillful in devising communication strategies that facilitate efficient information sharing.
  • A genuine dedication to process safety.
  • Ensuring the long-term needs of the station are met while supporting short-term delivery requirements aligned with stakeholder expectations.
  • Knowledge of Industry Process Safety standards and ISO55001 would be advantageous.
